About Us

At Excel Bridge we take great pride in being a family run business, where the emphasis is on friendly, sociable Bridge played in a cheerful atmosphere. Many of our guests have since become friends and we are always pleased to welcome regulars and newcomers alike.

Your Hosts. Lesley & Ralph Smith have been successfully running Excel Bridge for 15 years. Ralph isRalph & Lesley Smith a Grand Master, an experienced Director and his lively, informative seminars are always enthusiastically received.

The younger (and even livelier!) element is provided by Ralph’s son Andrew and his wife Cathy who have been involved in running weekends for 9 years. Andrew has now “caught” his Dad as he too is a Grand Master. He is also challenging his Father on the seminar front!

Andrew & Cathy SmithAll our breaks are personally hosted by either Ralph & Lesley or Andrew & Cathy, ably assisted by Mike Worth or Rosalind Concanon. Mike has been with us for many years and is a great favourite with all our guests. Ros joined us a few years ago and her cheerful manner and interesting seminars are already very popular. Above all, they both appreciate that Bridge is a game to be enjoyed!

Our Hotels are all carefully chosen for their comfort and service, pleasant surroundings and good food - we are sure that we offer the very best of Bridge breaks with excellent accommodation in top class hotels.

Almost all are 4 star hotels, but the odd good 3 star “slips in” if it has the right atmosphere and a particularly good situation. Naturally, all bedrooms have en-suite bathroom, colour television, telephone and tea & coffee making facilities.

Your enjoyment is important to us and we are sure that you will have a relaxing and successful break with Excel Bridge.
